Advance Directives and the JW Patient
by Lee Elder inadvance directives are complex legal instruments and widely misunderstood by both physicians and their patients.
with most jehovah's witnesses their is a significant level of misinformation, and in many cases coercion or undue influence exerted on the patient.
physicians need to be aware of this and always meet privately with the patient to educate them and then ascertain their true wishes.

It just depends on the kid in the U.S. There are many baptized JWs under 13 years of age. The WT lawyers have successfully argued that they are "mature minors" and should be allowed to make their own decisions. I knew a 15 year old JW who had leukemia and refused blood. She asked me to be a pallbearer at her funeral. I was 16 at the time and it had a lasting impression on me. -

John: The JW patient is given a document which lists the various blood fractions - including hemoglobin (the largest single component of blood besides water) and told to study the relevant scriptures and prayerfully make a conscientious choice. Difficult to do since the Bible never mentions the use of blood fractions or components and indeed never makes any reference to the modern practice of blood transfusion. Doctors are right to be concerned when an unconscious JW comes into the ER with a advance directive. Speaking with JW family members is seldom helpful. Every effort should be made to speak with the patient, making sure they have factual information and privacy. -

Does Anyone Have Knowledge About Follicular B Cell Lymphoma and Blood Transfusions?
by jamiebowers infrom what i've read, platelet and red blood cell levels are usually severely lowered during traditional treatment for this type of cancer.
is this correct?
and if so, are platelets and red blood cells now part of the watch tower approved fractions?

Platelets and red blood cells are not currently permitted. It is quite reasonable to ask why since current WT policy permits the use of 100% of blood in fractionated form. Learn more at www.ajwrb.org -

WT Society SEC Records : Hedge Funds, Cayman Islands, Financial Losses - Links
by flipper inso my wife and i were curious so i researched some financial links and found records indicating that the wt society has been operating at a loss since the year 2012. as you read the links it shows a loss of 10 million $$$ in 2012, about 16 million $$$ in 2013, and a whopping loss of 56 million $$$ in 2014 - where the expenditures exceeded the revenues for each of those years in the amount i've mentioned.
also there is a link on this same website with the sec records indicating that the wt society and it's representatives funneled 40 million $$$$ into hedge funds in the cayman islands as early as 2007. if you look online on other sites you can see evidence that indicates the wt society attended hedge fund conferences to look into more shadiness in 2011 and isn't it curious that by 2012 the wt society started showing losses.
anyway here is the link : https://www.watchtowerlies.com/the_watchtower_revenue.html .. feel free to check this link out and other links on that link indicating the cayman island connection.

Investing is largely a matter of timing. The WTS timing could not have been worse. 2007 was the tail end of the real estate bubble. Money invested in real estate and stocks from 2007 would likely still be under water - perhaps wiped out completely depending on the investment vehicle and degree of leverage. Simply incredible their advisers were that foolish. -

Difficult to budget for multi-million dollar judgements to say nothing of settlements that happen "out of court" and we don't hear about - I'm sure there are plenty of those. The other factor is that the WTS, at least when I was congregation secretary, was doing in house "self-insuring" to save money. That was one of the reasons for halls not having windows - to reduce break ins. What this suggests to me is that they probably do not have any errors and omissions or liability insurance. If so, they have no choice but to pay these judgements and settlement out of pocket. I don't believe that their pockets are deep enough to handle this. There is a very real chance they will face insolvency imo. -

What was the strangest off-the-cuff remark you ever heard from and elder or higher appointee?
by donny ini showed up for saturday morning field service and i was partnered with an elder who had transferred to our congregation in the dallas, texas area from michigan.
i told him about a recent embarrassing moment where i had played a "worldly" song during the sunday meeting due to someone replacing the cassette i had placed in the cassette player late friday night that had the correct "kingdom melody.".
out of the blue he said "about 4 years ago i was giving the sunday talk and i kept sporting a boner from time to time which was bizarre since being horny and teaching about jehovah is typically not something one associates with one another.".

After my elderly JW father passes, I will pull out the old letters to Bethel so you can have some good laughs. I will say this much for now, we had one circuit overseer who was so perverse and twisted they started calling him Br. Wisecrack. Moronic, racist male chauvinist pig. Surprised he didn't make it to the GB.
